Local teacher inducted into ECU Educators Hall of Fame

DEANNE SMITH | CONTRIBUTED HALL OF FAME: DeAnne Smith, a teacher at Eastern Elementary School, was recognized on Oct. 18 as an addition to the East Carolina University Educators Hall of Fame, initiated in 1999 to permanently acknowledge education professionals and associations who have made distinguished contributions in their field of eduation through service and mission. The Wall of Fame, which displays each educator’s induction, is in the Speight Building on the ECU campus. Her mother and brother — Patricia H. Smith and James Russell Smith Jr. — who are also educators in eastern North Carolina and ECU alumni, joined Smith in being recognized and were added to the Wall.
