Registered sex offender accused of rape

On Dec. 22, 2014, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex offense that occurred in a wooded area off of N.C. Highway 306 in Aurora. Investigators collected evidence and started an investigation.

As a result, Investigator Christina Dixon applied for and obtained a warrant charging Martin David Brinson, 25, of Marys Chapel Church Road in Aurora, with one count of second-degree rape and one count of second-degree sexual offense.

On Jan. 22, 2015, Brinson turned himself in and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills. Brinson is a registered sex offender and was on probation that included an electronic monitoring device at the time the crime was committed.
