EASTERN ELEMENTARY
CE-LE-BRATION: On Feb. 13, Eastern Elementary bus drivers were honored with a reception for “Love the Bus” week. Bus drivers were presented comical awards by Principal Melissa Dana and Assistant Principal Bridget Bilbro as part of the celebration. Selected students were also invited by the bus drivers to enjoy refreshments with them to thank them for being such good role models and having wonderful behavior on the bus. Students decorated posters for each driver in art class and presented them to the drivers at the reception. Of the 700 students who attend Eastern Elementary, over 400 are transported on school buses. School bus drivers go through intense, highly specialized training to ensure they are knowledgeable about student behavior management, school bus features, the loading and unloading process and security and emergency medical procedures.
