Northeast students join African Children’s Choir in singing South African national anthem

NORTHEAST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STEALING THE SHOW: On Sunday, March 8 Harvest Church in Washington hosted the African Children’s Choir. Two students from Northeast Elementary — Rachel VanderWeit and Shamari Clark (center) — were able to join the group on the stage in singing the South African National Anthem before a packed crowd. Music teacher Dawn Wilson prepared the students the previous week with the correct pronunciations and melody.  When asked about the experience, Shamari replied, “It was just awesome to be up there with them.”
