William Elliott Jarvis Sr., a resident of Pinetown, NC passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home. Mr. Jarvis was born in Beaufort County on March 5, 1938 to the late Isaac E. and Willie Mae Swindell Jarvis. He graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School and was employed as an AB Seaman with Express Marine.  Mr. Jarvis proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. Mr. Jarvis enjoyed being with his family, cooking and NASCAR.

Mr. Jarvis is survived by his wife, Hazel Wallace Jarvis; his children, William E. Jarvis Jr. “Billy” (Karen) of Washington, NC, Stephanie Jarvis Godley (Chris Beacham) of Atlantic Beach, NC, Chris Jarvis (Kim) of Bethel, NC, Kevin Jarvis (Tamara) of Atlantic Beach, NC; his step-children, Charlie “Tom” Woolard (Teresa) of Washington, NC, Brenda Kay Howell (Whit) of Pinetown, NC and Kenny Wayne Woolard (Teresa) of Pinetown, NC.  Additionally, he is survived by seven grandchildren, A.J. Jarvis, Cameron Jarvis, Ashlan Godley, Taylor Moore, Connor Jarvis, Gatlin Jarvis and Grayson Jarvis; his step-grandchildren, Deanna Jackson, Kristie Howell, Miranda Godsell, Pate Howell, Pam Boyd, Josh Woolard, Dustin Asby, Harli Foster, Earl Foster Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Von Craig Jr., Brayden Foster and Drake Foster.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda J. Cratch.

A graveside celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, with Pastor Bobby Wallace officiating. Pallbearers will be William Jarvis Jr., Chris Jarvis, Kevin Jarvis, Chris Beacham, Tom Woolard and Kenny Woolard; and honorary pallbearers will be Hector Andujar and Shawn Darden.  The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and other times at the home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brandy Nobles of Community Hospice for providing such wonderful care to Mr. Jarvis.
