Broadcast has its oddities

To the Editor:

I read with interest Thursday’s Gene Lyons column on the death of Trayvon Martin and shooter George Zimmerman’s alleged injuries, but the Martin Bashir TV broadcast to which Mr. Lyons refers contains certain oddities. It  includes purported blow-ups of police video taken the night Mr. Zimmerman was brought in for questioning. These appear to show a pronounced abrasion of some kind on the suspect’s head. Yet Mr. Bashir mentions neither the blow-ups nor the abrasion and states repeatedly that the video shows no injury, even though an apparent injury is being displayed prominently on the screen behind him as he speaks.

I suspect that some clever PhotoShopper has superimposed doctored blow-ups onto the original Bashir video footage and find it peculiar that Mr. Lyons, an experienced journalist, failed to notice the discrepancy.
