The Washington Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying a man suspected of an armed robbery on Dec. 16.
According to a press release from Lt. William Chrismon, spokesman for the department, around 9 p.m. Sunday, a report of robbery came from the store Tienda Dos Mundos at 611 John Small Avenue in Washington.
The suspect entered the store and allegedly displayed a handgun while demanding money, Chrismon said. No one was injured in the incident.
At the time of the robbery, the suspect was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and wearing a blue pullover hooded jacket, black and white checkered pants, blue rubber gloves and a blue bandana over his face, according to the press release. He was last seen leaving the store on foot.
This is the fourth armed robbery law enforcement officials have investigated over the past two months. Chrismon said WPD detectives have been in contact with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, but there is no concrete connection between the previous crimes and Sunday’s robbery.
The press release asks that anyone with information aiding the investigation to call the police at 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400.
