Larceny charges for Pantego men

A report of metal stolen from an uninhabited house in Pantego led Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators to two Pantego men.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, the owner of the residence reported that assorted metal items had been removed from the property on Swamp Road on Dec. 28, 2012. The stolen metal was sold at Foss Recycling Center in Belhaven, said Maj. Kenneth Watson, sheriff’s office spokesman.

Leander Lee Bonner, 50, of Swamp Road, Pantego, with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretense. James Edward Ross, 67, also of Swamp Road, was charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny. Patrol deputies arrested Bonner on Jan. 25 and he was held at the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond. Ross was arrested Saturday and held under a $5,000 secured bond.
