Southern Bank recognizes top banker

BELHAVEN — Charles F. “Chuck” Williams, Vice President and City Executive in Belhaven, was recognized as Top Banker in his division at Southern Bank’s Annual Best Bankers Event held in Norfolk, Virginia.
A native of Swan Quarter, Williams is a graduate of East Carolina University in North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Banking Mid Management, RMA Commercial Lending School and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He has been employed by Southern Bank for the past 20 years.
Williams is an active member of his community. He has served as Master of the Belhaven Lodge Number 509 AF&AM from 2005-2007, a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, past treasurer and member of the Mattamuskeet Jaycees, past member of the Board of Directors for the Hyde County Chamber of Commerce and past member of the Board of Trustees for Pungo District Hospital. He is an active member of the Belhaven-Pantego Rotary Club and was recently elected to a two year term on the Pantego Town Council.
Williams received the Belhaven Chamber of Commerce Past President’s Award for his 1998-1999 term. He received a Service Award from the Pungo District Hospital Board of Trustees for his service from April 1998 until April 2004 as a Trustee and May 2000 until April 2004 as Treasurer.
Williams resides in Pantego with his wife Paula Ruark-Williams, a native of Pantego, and their two daughters. He is a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ in Pantego where he serves as treasurer and a member of the praise and worship team.
