Construction employee charged with larceny

On March 7, 2014, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of larceny from a local construction business. Representatives from the business reported that an employee had stolen several items and the items had been located at the employee’s home on Camp Leach Road in Washington. Deputies responded to the residence on Camp Leach Road and assisted the business in recovering a Caterpillar Excavator, a Kawasaki Mule UTV and a portable fuel tank.
As a result of the follow-up investigation, Investigator Jeremy Landeck applied for and obtained warrants charging Herbert Lee Garriss, 46, of Camp Leach Road in Washington with three counts of larceny by employee. Garris was arrested on Aug. 27 by the Washington Police Department. He was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Donald Sadler.
