First Bank is pleased to announce that Michael Hoggard has joined the company as agriculture business development officer. Hoggard brings over 34 years of banking experience to his new position.

“We are delighted that Mike Hoggard has elected to join our Down East First Bank Team as an Agri-Business Relationship Manager,” said William Taylor, area executive and senior vice president. “Mike is a seasoned banker with deep skill sets in credit underwriting and customer service. “

Taylor adds that Hoggard has proven expertise in providing credit and other banking solutions to the agricultural communities that he serves.

“His communication skills, and first-in-class service to his clients, make him an excellent addition to our team, as First Bank further expands its commitment to serve the agricultural industry,” Taylor said.

Hoggard graduated from Bertie High School in 1969 and later studied community education through Appalachian State University and University of Michigan–Flint. He is also a graduate of BB&T University Management Training Program, and RMA Commercial Lending East Carolina University.

In the past 34 years, Hoggard has worked as bank ag specialist for a national bank, a risk advisor for a smaller community bank, and area executive for a regional bank.

Outside of banking, Hoggard is an accomplished veteran, having served for 26 years. He received an Army Achievement Medal and Army Commendation Medal, and was named Soldier of the Year.

An active member of the Community, Hoggard is a member of the local Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He also has served as vice president of the North Carolina Association of Community Education and captain of Bertie County Rescue.

Hoggard currently resides in Windsor with his wife, Joanne Harden Hoggard. He also has two grown children, Carrie and Corey, who live in North Carolina.
