THE ELDERS: John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School held our annual Grandparent’s
Day Celebration on Sept. 17. Grandparents visited with their grandchild’s class, took pictures with a provided backdrop and enjoyed quality time with their grandchild. Punch and treats were provided. Grandparents Day is a day to show appreciation for our grandparents. It‛s also a day to help children of all ages become aware of the strength, wisdom and guidance that older people can offer. Grandparents Day was proclaimed by President Jimmy Carter in 1979. PIctured is Kadir Lawrence from Taylor Williams’ third-grade class and Dyshanique Blount from Barbara Dell Carter’s second-grade class sit with their grandparents.
John Cotten Tayloe had a wonderful showing for Grandparents Day with over 300 visitors.
Keith Mitchell, the assistant principal at John Cotten Tayloe, enjoys a moment with his family including son, Wayland Mitchell.
