CHOCOWINITY — Chocowinity Primary School students enjoyed perfect weather during their recent fall field day activities.

Joining them again this year were Southside High School’s Coach Jeff Carrow and a group of SHS student athletes. The visitors from SHS, many of whom are former Chocowinity students themselves, joined CPS physical education teacher Therese Guard in manning a series of games and activities during the day-long event.

“Our kids had a wonderful time and I owe it all to Coach Carrow and his Southside Student Athletic Club,” Guard said. “Each year their energy and compassion for kids improves, as does their respect for adults, their peers and our little kids. What a super group!”

While field day is a fun event for the CPS students, it also instills in them the importance of teamwork and physical activity.

The event was something the Chocowinity Primary students talked about for days afterwards.

“My favorite part of field day was when we got to go to the station called Dizzy Izzy,” said Annabelle Howdy, a CPS third grade student. “It was fun to spin around on the bat and run back.”
