Mr. Richard “Tombo” Thomas Rhem Sr., age 56, a resident of 4363 U.S. Hwy. 17 S. Chocowinity, N.C. died Monday April 13, 2015 at his home.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday April 17, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Edward L. Mercer and Adam Waters.
The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday April 17, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
Tombo was born in Beaufort County on June 21, 1958 son of the late Clyde Nicholson Rhem and the late Phoebe Elizabeth Calhoun Rhem. He attended school at Washington High School and later received his GED. Tombo married the former Eleanor Elizabeth Hinds on February 14, 1993 who survives. He was a self-employed carpenter and a bartender at Sunset Lounge in Chocowinity. His hobbies included fishing and cooking for pig pickings at the Rebel.
Surviving along with his wife Eleanor of the home is one son: Richard “Tommy” Rhem, Jr.; two stepsons: Gary Taylor and wife Carla and Keith Taylor and wife Sandi all of Washington; a sister: Janet Mercer and husband Edward of Washington; two brothers: Clyde Nicholson Rhem II and wife Ann of Gray, TN and John Michael Rhem of Washington; five grandchildren: Christopher, Kristen, Alyssa, Hunter and Kassie and two great grandchildren: Jayla and Mya.
