There’s still time to sign up for BCCC Foundation trip to Canyon Country USA!

Reservations are now being accepted for a BCCC Foundation trip to Canyon Country USA.

Scheduled for Oct. 10-18, and offered by Collette through New Trends in Travel, the fully-escorted trip features door-to-door travel service from Washington. It is co-sponsored by the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce.

The cost of the trip is $3,259 per person based on double occupancy at hotels in Scottsdale, Grand Canyon National Park, Page, Ariz., Zion National Park and Las Vegas, seven breakfasts and five dinners during the trip, round-trip airfare from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, air taxes and fees and hotel transfers. Transportation to the airport in Raleigh is available for an additional charge of $60.

A deposit of $250 per person is required at the time of registration. The final payment will be due by Aug. 11.

The recommended cancellation waiver and insurance is an additional $205 per person. With the insurance, travelers may cancel for any reason up until the day of departure.

The itinerary includes a flight from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Scottsdale, Ariz., a visit to stunning Sedona, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Zion National Park. The trip will end in Las Vegas where travelers will spend two nights at the famous Paris Hotel.

BCCC to offer safe driving class

 

The Division of Continuing Education will offer the American Automobile Association-approved “Arrive Alive” class 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 2, in Room 823 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus. The registration fee is $50 and is non-refundable once the class begins.

In this six-hour course, AAA-certified Instructor Doris Daniel will cover practical strategies that will help students learn to drive defensively.

The class is designed for those who have received speeding tickets, need a refresher course in safe driving, need a training course for their work or want to improve their driving skills.

BCCC can customize this class for any business or non-profit agency that would like to host training for their drivers or employees.

BCCC to offer ServSafe® review, test

The Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College will offer a ServSafe® review session and test 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 20, in Room 829 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus.

The session and test are for those who wish to renew their certification, re-test or for those who have taken the ServSafe® Online course. Participants are urged to study ServSafe® Manager, 6th Edition, before attending the review session and taking the exam. The registration fee is $20.

Attendees are required to have a textbook and answer sheet, available from the BCCC Bookstore or the National Restaurant Association for an estimated $67.50. No materials will be sold in class.

Funding assistance for this course may be available from the local NCWorks Center, formerly JobLink. For more information and an eligibility assessment, contact the local center.

ServSafe® is the food service industry’s pre-eminent food-safety training program that is recognized and accepted by more federal, state and local jurisdictions than any other. A ServSafe® certification will ensure restaurant owners that two points will be available on their sanitation inspections.

BCCC to offer Aurora Emergency Medical Technician

The Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College will offer Initial Emergency Medical Technician training in Aurora beginning Monday, April 20.

The class will be offered at the Aurora Fire and Rescue Squad 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Aug. 12 with weekly instruction via the Internet. The deadline to register is Friday.

The cost of the course includes a $180 registration fee, $5 for student identification, $5 technology fee and $14.25 insurance and malpractice fee. For those who qualify, the registration fee can be waived and funding assistance may be available from N.C. Works.

The course is for those who have little or no medical experience and will introduce participants to emergency pre-hospital care. Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to take a state exam to become credentialed.

In order to register for the course, students must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Results from ASSET, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER test showing a reading ability at the 10th Grade or higher. Proof of Associate degree or higher or a college transcript documenting completion of high school or equivalency will be accepted in lieu of this requirement.
