Write Again . . . She’s her “amazing mother”

There are little things that happen along life’s journey that have meaning,
significance, that become a part of a tapestry of memories. Some of these “little
things” are just, well, sweet, and some need to be shared.
So it is — think — with the sentiments expressed in today’s column. I hope you agree.
Our beautiful, smart, athletic granddaughter, Sarah Lindsay Dimonekas, wrote a perceptive, touching poem about and to her mother around Mother’s Day last year when she was 12 years old.
Since we are now on the cusp of this year’s Mother’s Day, kind reader, please allow me this proud grandfather’s indulgence in sharing now 13 years old Lindsay’s little poem.
She titled it “An Ode to My Mother.”
“Someone who I could never live without,
Someone who’s always there for me without a doubt.
Someone who works 365 days with no breaks.
She cooks, cleans and even bakes.
Does laundry, the dishes, and mops the floor,
She buys us everything we need at the store.
She drives us to where we need to go,
To school, or a friend’s house, to and fro.
She is my best friend, who I love more than ever
She is my loving, amazing mother.”
Lindsay’s mom is Sarah, our older daughter. Their family lives in Darien, Connecticut. Her siblings are almost 16 years old Zach, and 10 years old Emily. James is their father.
Would that they lived closer.
