Fraud report leads to felony charges

On Oct. 5, 2015, at approximately 5:25 p.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fraud from an individual on Pirate Cove Road in Washington. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and collected evidence.
As a result of information and evidence gathered, Investigator Jason Hill applied for and obtained warrants charging Brantley Dylan Sutton, 20, of Shad Bend Drive, Washington, with one count of felony possession of five or more counterfeit instruments, six counts of uttering forged endorsement, six counts of identity theft, six counts of forgery of an instrument, and six counts of obtaining property by false pretense.
On Dec. 1, Brantley Dylan Sutton was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $15,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Donald Sadler.
