Pam Pack gets one back against Panthers
After losing at Northside last week, Washington was able to even things with its Beaufort County rival. The Pam Pack scored 20 on the Panthers in the fourth quarter en route to a 56-50 win — its second of the season.
Sharwan Staton hit a trio of 3-pointers in the first half, and led Washington with 17 points in the game. Bryson Radcliffe had 14 points for the Panthers — all of which came in the second half.
The Pam Pack had a marginal 21-19 lead at halftime. Northside dropped 19 points to take 38-36 lead into the final eight minutes. Staton and Nazzir Hardy got to the free-throw line often in the fourth, and converted on their chances to help lead their side to the win.
Washington and Northside will both be back in action on Tuesday. The Pam Pack hopes to string together its first win streak against Ayden-Grifton, while the Panthers look to bounce back from their first loss when they host Manteo.
Lady Pack completes sweep of Northside
After steamrolling Northside on its court last Friday, Washington was able to do the same on Friday in a 56-26 rout of the Lady Panthers. The win marks the Lady Pack’s eighth in nine tries, and completes a season sweep of its local rival.
Shi’erika Brown’s shooting helped fuel a 30-point first half for Washington. She knocked down a triple in the first quarter. That helped spread the floor early, letting Daria Jones get to work in the post almost right away. She had 14 points.
Washington’s high-pressure defense kept Northside from scoring double digits in any single quarter.
The Lady Pack added 13 points in both the third and fourth quarters. The girls look to continue their winning ways against Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday. The non-conference matchup with the Lady Chargers will be a preview of what they’ll see once they’re in the same league starting next season.
