The magical story of “Peter Pan” will come to life on the stage of the Washington High School Performing Arts Center next weekend.
The musical will be presented March 10-11 beginning at 7 p.m. and March 12 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for $8 at the high school’s front office or from any cast/crew member. If purchased at the door, tickets will be $10.
Sophomore Cassie Teixeira is cast in the title role.
“I’ve been acting at this high school since freshman year, but this is my first-ever lead role, so I’m excited about it,” Teixeira said, adding that she was surprised to be cast as the lead. Last year she was a cheerleader, back-up dancer and a member of the chorus for the WHS production of “Grease.”
For senior Connor Smith, the opportunity to play Captain Hook caps a high school acting career that included lead roles in “Little Shoppe of Horrors,” “Mary Poppins” and “Grease.”
“The most fun I’ve had in high school is doing these musicals, and the most interesting part about it is seeing it all come together,” Smith said.
Along with Teixeira and Smith, WHS students making up the cast and crew include Ryan Alligood, Micaela Anderson, LaSheema Boone, John Chavez, Adrianna Cilluffo, Juliet Cutler, George Dominguez, Bailey Gerard, Emma Guereschi, Abby Harris, Desiree Heath, Ragean Heath, Bailey Hilliard, Becca Jones, Sarah Kelly, Colston Lyons, Hanna Respess, Alissa Maxwell, Katelyn Mizelle, Emma Rice, Callie Smith, Kendall Smith, Kelly Toppin, Joe Vick, Mary Grace Wilder, Hunter Alligood, Thomas Hopkins and Dakota Woolard.
WHS faculty heading up the theater project include Travis Carter, Milton Dail, Melissa Moore, Penny Paul, Abi Shuford and Damon Walcott.
