Jamesville’s 10U all stars had their first seven batters reach via six hits and a walk during Sunday’s game against Washington White. Jamesville, seeing the ball well right out of the gate, scored seven runs in the first in an 18-2 rout of the home side.

The win punched Jamesville’s ticket to the next stop of the tournament, which will be held elsewhere. Chocowinity’s 12U team will also be moving onward.

Washington’s offense did its best to chip away at the early deficit. Tres Willard led off the bottom of the first with a single to right field. He stole second, and Holden Boykin was hit by a pitch to give the home team two runners with none out.

Mason Rhem loaded the bases by singling back up the middle. That set up Willard to score Washington’s first run off an RBI single from Oliver Thomas.

Tres Willard watches the ball come to his bat. He was an effective leadoff batter, and Washington’s offense wasn’t quiet. Jamesville just made some tremendous defensive plays, though.

That was all Washington would produce, though. It still had the bases loaded with one out, but Jamesville turned a 6-4-3 double play to erase the scoring threat.

Once again, Jamesville saw the ball to its bats to jumpstart the second inning with three-straight hits. It plated three runs in the frame to take a 10-1 lead. This time, Jamesville was able to hold Washington off of the scoreboard, too. Jerry Keimig drew a leadoff walk and made his way to third, but was stranded there.

Five more hits in the third — including a pair of two-RBI knocks — yielded another eight more runs and an 18-1 lead for the visitors.

Washington needed to make up some ground to avoid the mercy rule. Willard reached via walk, moved to second on a passed ball, then to third on Boykin’s groundout. Rhem plated him with a two-out single, but that was all the scoring Washington would get in the three-inning affair.
