Realtors inspire children to ‘dream big’

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Club of Beaufort County offers that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

On Oct. 11, the president, secretary-treasurer, two directors and one member of Washington-Beaufort County Board of Realtors took the opportunity to discuss the benefits and realities of “home ownership” versus “renting” with young people in the Boys & Girls Club here in Washington. After a brief discussion by the board members, the group of young people was encouraged to ask questions. It was the intention of WBCBR to inspire these young people to “dream big” and realize that “home ownership” was a possibility for them and what it took to make it a reality. The group was even transported to the home of one of the directors who lives in Washington Park to further motivate them to make “home ownership” part of their life goals.

WBCBR would like to thank each one who participated in this event. And most importantly, thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors of the Boys & Girls Club of Beaufort County who have made it their mission to make this a place where “great futures are started each and every day.” Because of this great organization, many young people of Beaufort County now have a “future and a hope.”
