In appreciation for the life of John Langley

To the Editor:

John Langley’s passing, as noted in the WDN obituary, goes in my Sad News File. John owned and operated the Sentry Hardware/The House Next Door at the corner of River Road and Brick Kiln Road in Washington Park. John and the Hardware Store were

important assets to Washington Park residents and to thousands of customers in the River Road/U.S. Highway 264 E portion of Beaufort County.

The small Sentry Hardware store had an astonishingly broad array of “stuff” … plumbing, electrical, tools, lawn/gardening, painting, fertilizers, seeds/plants, nuts, bolts, nails and much more. Equally important, John could tell his customers which product would work best for the customer’s use and also how to fix, build or install whatever it was the customer was intent on doing.

We have missed John Langley and his staff at the store. He was a good guy; and he was an important contributor to the quality of life in “greater” Washington Park.
