Chocowinity man arrested for attempted murder

Pitt County, N.C., – At about 1:55 p.m. on the afternoon of July 15, 2023, deputies from the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Rivercreek Drive and Clarks Neck Road to a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, deputies discovered one vehicle that had been shot and one person that had been struck and was suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

During their investigation, Pitt County deputies, with the assistance of the Washington Police Department and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, located the suspect vehicle in Beaufort County the following day.

As a result of interviews and evidence collected during the investigation, detectives obtained warrants charging 22-year-old George Ray Satterwhite, Jr. of Chocowinity with 2 counts of Attempted Murder and 2 counts of Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property/Vehicle.

Satterwhite turned himself in to deputies on July 18 and was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center, where he remains under a $1,000,000 secured bond.
