Ten years ago, the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and Beaufort County Schools held a breakfast for community leaders and members requesting their assistance to jumpstart a new initiative that would help meet basic needs of Beaufort County students and families. In the decade since, that initiative – Beaufort County Bright Futures- has served thousands of students and families with resources within the county.
On Friday, Dec. 1, Beaufort County Bright Futures hosted a breakfast for community leaders and members to thank them for the time, energy and donations they’ve put into making it a success. Special recognition was given to Nutrien who established Bright Futures in Joplin, Missouri, but saw similar needs in Beaufort County; therefore, they collaborated with the chamber and school district to bring the nonprofit to this area. In addition, Laurel Paramore, Barbara Jones and Ashley Padgett were recognized for their work bringing awareness to students’ needs ranging from new beds, new clothes to food, furniture and washer and dryers.
