Boating club elects officers

From America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico
The Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron, known as America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico, held its Annual Meeting and Change of Watch on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Washington Yacht & Country Club.  The Change of Watch is an annual event includes election of officers to begin the 2024 Watch Year.  We were joined by our District 27 Representative, D/Lt/C Connie Shay who traveled from Raleigh, NC to preside over the Installation of the Bridge Officers.
The new Bridge Officers are energized and enthusiastically ready for 2024.  The officers are:
•Commander – Walt Morrissey
•Executive Officer – Mike Johnson, S
•Education Officer – Bob Vecchi, P
•Administrative Officer – Linda Moyer
•Treasurer – Tom Graham, SN
•Secretary – Marissa Morrissey
•Asst Education Officer – Cathy Karlovich, JN
•Asst Admin Officer-Social – Lorne Hope, AP
•Asst Admin Officer-Boating – Mike Karlovich, AP
•Asst Treasurer – Susan Stockman
•Asst Secretary – Edith Hope
The 2024 Budget was reviewed and approved by membership. Returning Commander Walt Morrissey referred to last years’ many successes including outstandingly skill building educational courses and civic involvement. As well as free Vessel Safety Inspections ensuring recreational boaters are safe and their boats have all the necessary safety equipment required by law. Lastly, membership enjoyed many boating, social and speaker events throughout the year.
In addition to the Annual Meeting and the installation of Officers for 2024, a highlight was the recognition of outstanding efforts and awards for achievement given to various members for their contribution to America’s Boating Club of the Pamlico’s mission. Those Awards included:
•The Past Commanders Recognition Award to Lorne Hope
•The Commander’s Award to Bob Vecchi
•The Bob Hatala Education Award to Kelly Hasslinger & Beth McCluskey
•The Colwell Perseverance Award to Sue Duclos
•The Community Award to Rio DeGennaro
