The Ray S. Brooks bridge that leads into Bath will be completed by Memorial Day, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Transportation confirmed.

The bridge closed on Mar. 26 for structural repairs. A span, or a portion, of the 64-year-old bridge was replaced to add to its longevity.

On Wednesday, Town of Bath officials and residents gathered to thank construction workers for their efforts to get the bridge back open on time. They showed their appreciation with bagged lunches and breakfast the following morning.
