Eight Chocowinity Middle School students have been recognized by Duke University as a part of its Talent Identification Program.
Since 1980, the Duke University TIP has committed itself to identifying academically talented students and providing model programs and services to support the development of their optimal educational potential. The Duke Seventh Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. Candidates are identified based on standardized test scores achieved while attending middle school. The students are then invited to complete either the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment college entrance examination. Duke TIP then provides the participants with comparative information concerning their academic abilities and resources for unique educational opportunities.
