Martin County Sheriff’s Office is asking that eastern Carolinians be on the lookout for stolen coins. According to a press release from Lt. Drew Robinson, spokesman for the investigative division of the sheriff’s office, on Oct. 6, deputies received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny at a residence on Prison Camp Road. Stolen was a dark blue suitcase containing a large collection of assorted coins and $2 bills.
Robinson said the suspect may have used the suitcase to transport the collection.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone who was in the area of the Holiday Inn Express (Prison Camp Road location) between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., who may have seen an individual carrying a dark suitcase, contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at 252-789-4500 or call Martin County Crimestoppers at 252-792-8800. A reward of up to $1,500.00 is available to individuals who provide information that leads to an arrest, said the release.
