Do you want to go to college but think you have waited too late to start this spring? Or do you want to pick up a class to complete your schedule?
Beaufort County Community College is offering several eight-week classes that will give those interested in enrolling in college or those who would like to add an additional class a chance to do so, BCCC President Barbara Tansey announced this week.
And about 80 percent of these eight-week courses are available online as part of BCCC’s continuing effort to serve those students who live at a distance from the college, Tansey said.
The eight-week classes will begin Tuesday, March 11. Students may register for one or more of these classes Monday, February 24 and continue through Monday, March 10.
The college will offer courses – including Art Appreciation, Personal Health and Wellness and World Civilizations II – that are available for transfer to one of the 16 colleges and universities that are part of the University of North Carolina system.
The college will also offer business-related courses – including Introduction to Computers, Ethics and Community Relations and Professional Development – for those who would like to begin training for a career.
College Student Success will also be offered as an eight-week course.
“Some of our new enrollees were not able to complete their financial aid applications, their testing or submit their transcripts before classes began in August, so these eight-week courses will give those students the chance to begin their studies without having to wait a semester,” Tansey said.
“These classes will also help our existing students – especially those who had to drop or were closed out of a class – add to their schedules this semester if they would like to do so,” she said.
New students should contact Director of Counseling Kimberly Jackson at 252-940-6252 and returning students, Counselor Caroline Hill at 252-940-6443 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment to register for these classes.
Tuition and fees at Beaufort County Community College are established by the N.C. General Assembly and the N.C. Board of Community Colleges. Tuition for in-state students was recently set at $71.50 per credit hour and student fees at $2 per credit hour for a total of $73.50 per credit hour. Tuition for out-of-state students was set at $263.50 per credit hour and student fees at $2 per credit hour for a total of $265.50.
