Fourth grade students bid farewell to CPS

CHOCOWINITY — More than 100 fourth grade students bid a fond farewell to Chocowinity Primary School, marking the end of the 2013-2014 school year.

The students were recognized during a traditional “Moving Up” graduation ceremony held June 6.

Principal Alicia Vosburgh welcomed the students and guests before the presentation of certificates. Spencer Pake, CPS’s assistant principal, led the group in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

“It’s a celebratory time for our staff and students,” Vosburgh said of the ceremony. “It’s the end of one adventure, but the start of another. We take this opportunity to wish them well and to remind them of the qualities taught here at Chocowinity Primary School that they will use in future endeavors.”

Two students were recognized as the recipients of special awards during the ceremony. Shawn Gerard was presented a trophy for winning the 2014 CPS Spelling Bee, while Aiden Turnagewas presented Chocowinity Primary School’s Citizenship Award.
