The Knights of Terra Ceia played the regular season finale in Hobgood facing their conference rival Raiders.

Austin Wynne (1-0), the Knights regular second baseman, started his first game on the mound, allowing only one hit and picking up the win. Both teams played well defensively, as Terra Ceia took only a 5-2 lead through five innings. But the Knights’ bats got hot in the sixth, led by Quentin Van Essendelft, Lelon Stotesberry and Wesley Butcher with two hits each, and scored nine in the final frame to take a 14-2 victory.

The win set a school record for Terra Ceia baseball, compiling a 13 win regular season.

“This was a great way to finish the regular season,” said coach Jason Wynne. “We had set a goal earlier in the week to win all three games this week and finish strong heading into the tournament, and the guys did exactly that. I’m very proud of their accomplishments on the season, but there’s still work to do.”

The Knights will travel to Northeast Academy for the Tarheel Independent Conference tournament that begins Monday. The win improves Terra Ceia’s record to 13-4 overall and 7-3 in the TIC.
