Surveillance, chase lead to arrest

On Aug. 20, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Saquan Ward, 18 years of age, of 193 Lodge Drive in Washington. Ward was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer.

Ward’s arrest stemmed from investigators conducting surveillance on the H&K Store located on Carolina Avenue in Washington. Investigators witnessed Ward hanging out in front of the H&K Store and counting small bags of marijuana. Investigators approached Ward and Ward fled on foot. After a short chase, Ward was apprehended. Investigators searched Ward and found bags of marijuana packaged for resale.

Ward was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.
