Summer Art Camp registration opens, youth arts grow

Summer art camp registrations open this week and is online for the first time at www.artsofthepamlico.org.

This year, Arts of the Pamlico will host a variety of art camps including two, three-week Broadway Kids Camps, pottery camps, one-week theatre camps, movie camp, visual arts camps and more! Half-day, weeklong camps are $85 for non-family members and $75 for family members. Three-week camp fees are $250 for non-family members or $200 for members.

Two pottery camps with Liz Reed will be offered for kids this summer. Half-day morning camps from 9 a.m. to noon are available for the weeks of June 22 and Aug. 3, 2020.

Movie Camp is back with Jennifer Woolard. Kids have fun all week with their friends and make a movie to show on the big screen on the last day of camp. Movie camp will be held the week of June 15.

New this year is mural camp with Carleigh Flynn. Youth will create concepts, draw and paint big, outdoor murals that will beautify our city during this half-day camp this summer.

Weeklong camps for youth looking to try out theater or who want a shorter camp, as well as three-week theatre camps will be offered this summer for the little actors in your life. The two, three-week Broadway Kids camps are “Mary Poppins Jr.” with Rachel Isaac and “Shrek Jr.” with Dylan Ritch.

Isaac is an East Carolina University Theatre for Youth graduate and high school theater teacher at D.H. Conley in Greenville. The camp is a half-day morning camp from 9 a.m. to noon, June 22 -to July 10 (skipping the week of July 4) with two performances on July 11 at the Turnage Theatre. Ritch also is a graduate of ECU’s Theatre for Youth degree program and leads the elementary school theatre program at Wahl-Coates in Greenville. This camp is July 13 to July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon, with two performances on Aug. 1 at the Turnage Theatre.

Registration opens Jan. 6, 2020. Register by visiting www.artsofthepamlico.org and click on Youth Arts on the home page to submit payment online. Forms for camps will be emailed following the receipt of payment. If you have questions, call us during office hours, Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
