To the Editor:

On behalf of the congregation of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we would like to say “thank you” to the Washington community for the outpouring of love and support following the fire that destroyed our building on April 28.
Thank you to the following Emergency Response Agencies: Washington Fire & Rescue, Washington Police Department, Bunyan Fire Department, Chocowinity Fire Department, Old Ford Fire Department, Bath Fire Department, Greenville Fire & Rescue, and Williamston Fire & Rescue. Your efforts to not only fight the fire, but also save as many items from the structure as possible are appreciated.
Thank you to our neighboring churches for offering and allowing us to use their facilities. Thank you to the Order of the Redmen for allowing us to use their space for Sunday morning worship. Thank you to everyone that has offered their prayers, their support and their gifts during this time.
It is wonderful to be part of a community that pulls together in difficult times.
