The value of the Literacy Volunteers

To the Editor:

When our adult daughter was going to Beaufort County Community College to practice for CRC (Career Readiness Certificate) testing, I was advised by Penelope Radcliffe of a place in Washington called Literacy Volunteers of Beaufort County. They help with one-on-one tutoring. We were not expecting the wonderful people that they had that donate their time to help people like our daughter succeed.

We initially went for tutoring to improve CRC scores, but what we got was so much more.

Mrs. Jane Weaver and Mr. Bill Angus helped our daughter with math, mock job interviews, as well as helping and encouraging her on the computer part of the driving test.

I did not know there was such a place in Washington. We would like to thank Mrs. Jane Weaver and Mr. Bill Angus for all their hard work and Penelope Radcliffe of BCCC, for letting us know about Literacy Volunteers of Beaufort County.
