Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

So much there is, that is happening, and has happened, over the last few years, that has affected so many, in different ways.

The pandemic. The insurrection. The mass shootings. The condo collapse. The political divide.

It would not be difficult to succumb to a real sense of angst, even depression, if one watches the news on television regularly. Not difficult at all.

So. What is needed here is a bit of levity. A touch of humor, if you will. Plus a little uplifting as well.

A while ago someone sent me a five-page flyer that was advertising t-shirts. That’s right. T-shirts. Each shirt had a message written on the front, some even with artistic illustrations or depictions.

Let me, then, share just a few of the messages on the shirts:

“Nevertheless she persisted.” and “The universe is made of protons, neutrons, electrons and morons.”

“Love your neighbor. Your Black, Brown, White, Immigrant, Disabled, Religiously Different, LGBTQ, Fully human neighbor.” and “The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.”

“A recent study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.”

“Exhaustipated – Just too tired to give a ….” and “I always offer two choices: Take It or Leave It.”

“To My Children: Never make fun of having to help me with the computer stuff. I TAUGHT YOU HOW TO USE A SPOON.”

“I love waving at random people. Because you know for the rest of the day they’re trying to figure out who I was.”

Okay. I know they’re not all that funny or thought provoking. It did get your mind off worrisome things for a few minutes, though, didn’t it?

I stayed away from the blatantly political ones, as I try not to forget where I live.

If I were to come up with a message t-shirt, I think I’d have it say “T-shirt;” and if I were to design a bumper sticker, it would say “Bumper Stick.”

One of my favorite bumper stickers is “Mean People Are Mean.”

Now, ain’t that so.

Later, y’all.
