Golden Ticket Cinema 7 will permanently close its doors on Tuesday, Mar. 26, the movie theater announced on social media over the weekend.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our Washington location,” the social media post reads. “We thank the community for all their love and support over so many years. It is our hope we were able to leave you with many happy movie memories…”
Greenville is now the closest city with a movie theater. There is a Golden Ticket theater located at 750 SW Greenville Boulevard. It has stadium seating, luxury recliners, deliver-to-seat dining and all-you-can-eat popcorn. The ELITE auditorium features 4K laser production, Dolby Atmos sound and heated recliners.
The Golden Ticket Cinema 7 is located at Washington Square Mall. In January of 2017, the theater was purchased and  remodeled by Golden Ticket Cinemas, an independent theater company out of the Triangle area. A month prior, the former owner – Carmike Cinemas- closed the theater’s doors, leaving the city without its sole commercial theater.
