Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

Thank you Cindy and Luther Davis for your remarks in the Washington Daily News.

I would like to thank the crew of Coast Guard Station Hobucken for coming to my rescue on the Pamlico River and Pamlico Sound last week after I had trouble with my boat motor.

In reference to the Sound Off about the NAACP hosting meetings at Washington Housing Authority property: I’m not a member of the NAACP, so whether it pays a fee for using the building or not, I don’t know. I do know of several other organizations that use the building and only pay if they’re able to do so. I have nothing but a high regard for the housing authority. It allows the community to use that building when it’s not in use and is only doing good for the community. I feel sorry that an individual would hold it against the housing authority to allow a community organization to host a meeting there. It must be to make him or her feel better for his or her deficiencies.
