I sit with an elderly lady and she was very disappointed none of her neighbors brought over any pie the other day. We had some turkey that we had to grind up because she has it soft. I hope everybody starts remembering their neighbors who are elderly and at least just pop in and say “Hi” for a minute. If you have a piece of pie, that’d be nice. God bless everybody, and I hope you have a merry Christmas.

A Pitt County commissioner went to various county departments to see how employees were doing their jobs. The animal shelter was visited. It was heart-breaking to see so many animals waiting but how well they were cared for by just a staff of five. It would be a good idea for someone from the Beaufort commissioners to visit the Beaufort shelter and also see too many animals and too few employees.
