PotashCorp-Aurora News Release

PotashCorp-Aurora employees Tom Diggs, Melissa Nanney, Woody Hodges and John Robinson load the trucks with Melvin Wolfe, Marine Corps League 1262; SSgt. Peter Tapia, USMC Korean War Veteran; Vince Tesoro, Toys for Tots Coordinator for the Marine Corps League Department of N.C. and Butch Brown, Troy Cutler, and Taiwan Ebron from Industrial & Construction Enterprises.

AURORA – It took more than Santa’s sleigh to load up the many toys PotashCorp-Aurora employees and contractors collected for this year’s Toys for Tots program. In fact, it took two trucks to get all the toys and bikes to St. Peter’s Church in Washington.

The trucks for the delivery were generously provided by Cli-Co Crown Moving & Storage and Industrial & Construction Enterprises. In addition to the large trucks used to haul the toys, the job of loading the trucks required several PotashCorp-Aurora employees, contractors and marines. The generous donations collected will be distributed across eastern North Carolina, making the holiday season bright for many less fortunate families.

PotashCorp-Aurora employees have been participating in this program since 1996 and have now garnered additional support from the many contractors who work on-site. Collection boxes are placed around the plant site and departmental challenges are issued each year throughout the campaign.  While everyone donates out of the goodness of their hearts – the competition helps to increase the fun and excitement of this special project. And even though the Mill department won again – which seems to happen every year – the project is always supported plant wide.

Steve Beckel, PotashCorp-Aurora general manager noted, “Our employees have always met the challenge to help people in need in eastern North Carolina, and this year’s holiday season was no different than in years past. Thank you all for your continued support and caring spirit!”

PotashCorp is the world’s largest crop nutrient company and plays an integral role in global food production. PCS Phosphate Company, Inc. (PotashCorp-Aurora) produces phosphate products for agricultural, animal nutrition and industrial uses, has more than 900 employees and contributes to eastern North Carolina’s economy through purchasing and community investment.
