Festival Park is barely a year old, but the waterfront facility is proving to be a popular spot for many fun-related events and activities.
Joining the Festival Park lineup of attractions is the Harmony on the Harbor series — concerts and musical performances of many genres. Harmony on the Harbor is a welcome addition to Festival Park.
The many uses of Festival Park since it opened last spring and the many future uses of Festival Park provide evidence the waterfront venue was a good investment by the City of Washington. The park is proving to be a place where people in the community want to be married, hold fundraising events and present programs like the recent re-enactment of the Siege of Washington, which occurred during the Civil War in 1863.
Several years ago, the public asked the city to set aside some land between the N.C. Estuarium and the former Maola building and along the waterfront as green space for public use. Festival Park is the city’s response to that request.
The city used some of its own money and grant funds to design and build Festival Park. Its amenities — children’s playground, performance stage and picnic pavilion — are among the best in eastern North Carolina.
Festival Park is an investment that is paying off in enhanced leisure, recreational and entertainment opportunities for Washington residents and others for years to come. Whether it’s a wedding, an outdoor concert or just tossing a Frisbee, area residents should make use of Festival Park.
