Let’s get this straight, the group wanting to take over the waterfront is only going to look after from the sidewalk to the water? They’re going to let public works have the job of cleaning up all the parking lots. Of course, all the dockworkers will be reduced, their time will be shortened, etc., and yet the city manager, present one, says the city wants to be welcome and inviting. I don’t think it’s going to happen. Oh, what a tangled web we weave when we try to deceive.

I just finished watching the county commissioners on TV. Hood Richardson thinks he is royalty. It’s a shame nobody else thinks that except himself. He is a disgrace to this county.

So, East Carolina beat Old Dominion. Who cares? In the grand scheme of things, who is Old Dominion? ECU beat some fourth-rate team, and everybody’s happy about that. No. Until East Carolina plays a tougher schedule, it will never get respect. Step up the competition, East Carolina.

This is for all you Obamacare supporters out there. The facts are the federal congress can’t even balance its budget. So, why in the world would you expect them to manage one fifth of our economy, which is the health care in the United States? Do some homework on your health-care policy.

This comment is in reference to a Sound Off comment made on Sept. 1 that referenced the Affordable Care Act. Me and my wife are both retired, and the Affordable Care Act has done exactly the opposite of what the commenter said in the paper Sunday. Our premiums have increased. Our coverage has decreased, and it has affected our basic economic levels because it takes more from our retirement pay. Is this just coincidence, or are my wife and I the only ones or are others affected in the same way? I’d love to hear if other people have any comments like this.

Well, I see old Hood put in for some of that free money. I don’t see why these people who have these stores in town can’t take care of their own storefronts that are a mess. So, they end up with some kind of giveaway program to help them take care of their stores if they want it to look good.

Hood Richardson should keep his mouth shut on the future of Vidant Pungo Hospital. It’s not a concern for Hood or the Beaufort County Hospital Authority since they have nothing to do with the situation in Belhaven. We need the active, vocal and financial support of local communities to keep Vidant Pungo alive.

Wow! Another stupid idea — introducing a foreign fish to our natural habitat, to Jack’s Creek. If you check history, introducing foreign animals into natural habitats is a bad thing. Ask Florida about pythons, boas and reptiles.
