Tonight is legendary night

More often than not, when the Beaufort County Arts Council comes up in conversation or the news, it is about two-dimensional art, local music festivals or the Turnage Theater. Tonight it will be about bluegrass.

It isn’t every day that Molasses Creek crosses paths with The Looping Brothers and folk legend Si Kahn. Beaufort County folks will have the pleasure of seeing history in the making.

The Beaufort County Arts Council organized tonight’s 7 p.m. concert at the Washington Civic Center.

Kahn’s 30-year music career has included collaborations with Kathy Mattea, Hazel Dickens Robin and Linda Williams and the Coal Creek Bluegrass Band, to name a few. His latest collaboration is with The Looping Brothers, a German bluegrass band known all over Europe.

The stars aligned and somehow managed to make these legends available for a Washington stop. Who better to join them than Molasses Creek?

The Ocracoke band never fails to entertain and delight Beaufort County audiences. Tonight, it will share the stage with a legend and undoubtedly hold its own.

No, this doesn’t happen every day. And it certainly doesn’t happen every Tuesday. But it was made possible by one of the most active and dedicated groups in town, an arts council that has built a reputation for this county as a source for quality entertainment in beautiful venues. Thanks, once again, BCAC, for making this happen.

Tickets for tonight’s show are $15 a person for general admission and may be purchased in advance by visiting or calling the arts council, and they will be available at the door.
