More than paperwork

To the Editor:

Mr. Hood Richardson’s letter to the editor that was published in the April 16 Washington Daily News is disturbing.

In his letter he stated, “They did present some paperwork from the architect who is building the jail to justify the size of the jail.” The architectural design process involves a very thorough programming phase during which the project requirements are determined and presented. This is not just some paperwork. It is the work of professionals, which requires much time and provides the basis for a project.

What disturbs me most, however, is Mr. Richardson’s unprofessional public bashing of his fellow commissioners. One can express dissent without demeaning others. This is greatly needed in politics at this time.

Our elected officials need to respect each other especially in the public eye.
