The hit ABC reality show, Shark Tank is hosting open auditions July 24, at The Martinsborough in Greenville. U.S. Cellular of North Carolina is sponsoring the open casting call for small businesses in the area.

“This is for any small business or entrepreneur from anywhere. It’s just being hosted in Greenville and U.S. Cellular,” said Jeremy Taylor, director of sales in Greenville. “We’re extremely proud to have the opportunity to champion small business and this is our way of giving them additional tools.”

Aspiring entrepreneurs going for the casting call can begin arriving at 9 a.m. to receive a wristband. The first 500 entrepreneurs arriving on Thursday will get wristband, which will give individuals the chance to meet producers. Interviews begin at 10 a.m., but applicants must fill out an application before arriving.

The application can be found online at www.Sharktankopencall.com, and Taylor recommends learning more about the casting call before arriving.

“This is for anyone with a product or an idea that wants to present it,” Taylor said.

The show’s stars like Jeff Foxworthy and Mark Cuban will not be in attendance at the casting call.

“The premise of the show is they don’t see these ideas until they walk into the room,” Taylor said. “These casting calls will take place in Greenville with the producers of the show.”

U.S. Cellular associates said they are hopeful that somebody from eastern North Carolina can get onto the show.

“This is the first time Shark Tank casting calls have come to eastern North Carolina,” Taylor said. “What excites us is we are able to show our commitment to small businesses and entrepreneurs in eastern North Carolina.”

The Emmy-nominated show, in its sixth season, ranked 51st in the Nielsen Ratings last year during season five.

The Martinsborough is located at 330 S. Evans St., in Greenville.
