CHOCOWINITY — Folks in Chocowinity kicked off Halloween in grand style last weekend with the opening of its first Six Nights of Fright festivities.

The event is hosted by Raised in a Barn Farm and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Chocowinity Fire Department and Angels N Camo.

“We were so thrilled with our first weekend of the Haunted Trail,” said Jane Boahn, whose family owns and operates Raised in a Barn Farm. “We envision a great beginning to another annual tradition we can offer to the community, while helping to raise funds for the local economy and non-profits.”

Along with an excursion through the “haunted woods” for the brave at heart, the festivities include live music, refreshments and special activities for the youngsters in the “Lil’ Barn of Boos.”.

“So much fun was had by all,” Boahn said. “We will have more to come with a little change almost every night.”

Six Nights of Fright continues Friday and Saturday evening as well as Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Children’s activities run from 6 to 9 p.m. in the barn. Haunted Trail tours are scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m. Raised in a Barn Farm is located on N.C. Highway 33 east of Chocowinity.
