From Beaufort County Community College

Hardee’s donates to sign campaign at BCCC
Construction to begin soon

Hardee’s recently donated to the digital sign campaign at Beaufort County Community College, as its construction is scheduled to begin later this year. The contract for construction of the sign was awarded in late December to Advance Signs and Service Inc. of Angier. Construction of the sign, to be located at the front of the college along U.S. Highway 264, is scheduled to begin in March, according to college officials.

“The BCCC Foundation is grateful for this contribution from Hardee’s, which has helped us ensure that construction of the sign can begin,” said Foundation Director Serena Sullivan. Pictured, Angelia Guilford, general manager of Hardee’s East, and Mike Davenport, district manager for Hardee’s, display an architectural drawing by John Farkas of the proposed sign. Once completed, the digital sign will display information about college and community events, as well as information about donor businesses and industries. The BCCC Foundation has raised some $80,000 from private contributions for its construction.

Join the BCCC Foundation to see The Lion King

Join the Beaufort County Community College Foundation March 12 for a trip to Durham to see the stage production of the Tony Award-winning musical, “The Lion King.”

The cost of the trip, open to all BCCC students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college, is $200 per person.

The price of the trip includes transportation to and from Durham, lunch and tickets for seats in the orchestra section for “The Lion King” at the Durham Performing Arts Center in downtown Durham.

The trip will leave the Building 8 parking lot at BCCC by 8:45 a.m. and travel to Durham for lunch at Harvest 18 Restaurant. Located in the Southpoint Mall area, Harvest 18 is a neighborhood eatery offering chef-driven cuisine with over 80 percent of foods sources from local farms, ranches and fishmongers.

After lunch, the group will travel to DPAC for a matinee performance of “The Lion King,” the awe-inspiring musical that won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor brings to life a story filled with hope and adventure set against the Serengeti. Giraffes strut. Birds swoop. Gazelles leap to some of Broadway’s must recognizable music by Elton John and Time Rice.

After the performance, participants will depart Durham for the trip home and enjoy light refreshments on the bus. The group is scheduled to return to the BCCC campus at about 7:30 p.m.
