Beau-Fitt cooking demonstration and yoga

The next Beau-Fitt health and wellness information session will be on Tuesday, April 19, in Building 4, room 102. This health and wellness session is split into two 30-minute sections and open to everyone in the community, along with staff, faculty and students. Please feel free to attend one or both parts of the session.

The healthy cooking demonstration will feature Colleen Obrien, dietician, and Artemus Brower, chef from Vidant Beaufort Hospital. During the cooking demonstration they will give out small samples. Lilly Jones, yoga instructor from Fitness Unlimited, is leading the yoga stretching exercise.

People who attend should wear comfortable clothing for the yoga, and seating will be on the yoga stability balls and chairs. Participants are welcomed to bring their own lunch and eat during this time. The first 50 people who attend will receive a free gift related to the healthy eating session, courtesy of BCCC Beau-Fitt and MDC.

How to write a business plan with Brian Cooke

Starting a small business is a huge step for anyone. This class will help with the fundamentals of writing a business plan. A business plan is the foundation for success when making a decision to start a new business or acquire an existing business. A business plan is key when it comes to seeking funds for one’s business. Topics discussed include: the executive summary, describing the business, conducting marketing research and analysis and marketing the business.

Brian Cooke is a former instructor of management and entrepreneurship at East Carolina University. He received his bachelor’s degree, concentrating in entrepreneurship and small business management, as well as his master’s from ECU. During his time at ECU, Cooke worked as the associate director of the Small Business Institute, interned with the N.C. Small Business and Technology Development Center and received two national awards for business case competitions. He has experience in business ownership, business consulting, business planning, product design, manufacturing and supply chain management.

The workshop is free and runs from 3-5 p.m. on Monday, April 18, in Building 8, room 828. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by calling 252-940-6375.
