Friday, 9 a.m. outages by county:
Beaufort 7,167
Craven 851

Hyde 4,277
Pamlico 4,457
Washington 993

Both Hatteras and Ocracoke islands are off due to an outage on the Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative system. Reports from Ocracoke indicate extensive flooding that came up very quickly in the past hour. Crews will be given the green light to begin damage assessments as weather conditions improve in each of our operational districts. Please do not impede their travel as they undertake the work of system inspections. These assessments are crucial to our power restoration success so we can deploy our teams and equipment effectively. At this time we cannot provide any power restoration estimates. We tripled our workforce prior to the storm’s arrival and everyone is eager to get restoration work underway once it is safe to do so.
