Pets of the Week: Oct. 19, 2019

Published 6:08 pm Friday, October 18, 2019

October is “Dog Adoption Month” at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies is reduced during October. The remainder of the reduced fee is paid for by the Humane Society of Beaufort County. Please call the shelter for any questions, 252-946-4517.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Marmalade

At approximately 6 months old, Marmalade, an American, medium-hair kitten, is handsome with his coat of pale apricot, big eyes and bobtail. Marmalade loves to be cuddled, held and loved. He will be a wonderful and welcome addition in a good, loving forever home. For more about Marmalade, ID No. 1681, see Facebook’s ENC Shelter Cats page and come visit him — you’ll be glad you did. He is available at the shelter.

Marcie

At approximately 6 years old, Marcie, a large, chocolate and tan, American pit bull terrier mix is a good-looking, friendly, sweet girl. She will do best with a loving, attentive and active family who will spend time with her, include her in their activities, give her plenty of regular exercise and play in a fenced area or on a leash, obedience training (she appears to have had some) and, of course, a good forever home. Marcie, ID No. 1667, would love to have you visit. She’s available at the shelter.
